This vibrant homemade strawberry margarita mix transforms fresh, juicy berries into a restaurant-quality drink base in just 15 minutes. With its perfect balance of sweet fruit and zesty citrus, this naturally colorful mix creates refreshing beverages that outshine any store-bought alternative. Make a batch to elevate your next gathering or enjoy a glass of summer any time of year!

Ingredients

Base Mix:

  • Fresh Strawberries – 1 pound (about 4 cups), hulled and halved
  • Fresh Lime Juice – 1/2 cup (from approximately 4-5 limes)
  • Fresh Orange Juice – 1/4 cup (from approximately 1 large orange)
  • Agave Nectar or Honey – 1/3 cup, adjustable to taste
  • Water – 1/2 cup, filtered

For Serving (Optional):

  • Coarse Salt – As needed for rimming glasses
  • Fresh Lime Wedges – 1 per glass
  • Fresh Strawberry Slices – 1-2 per glass
  • Fresh Mint Leaves – 2-3 leaves per glass
  • Sparkling Water – 1 cup per cup of mix

Instructions

  1. Prepare the fruit. Hull and slice strawberries into quarters. Roll limes and oranges on the counter to release juices, then cut and juice them, straining out seeds and pulp.
  2. Blend the mixture. Combine prepared strawberries, lime juice, orange juice, and water in a blender. Process on high speed for 30-45 seconds until completely smooth.
  3. Add sweetener. Pour in 1/4 cup of agave nectar or honey and blend again for 10-15 seconds. Taste and add more sweetener if desired, blending briefly after each addition.
  4. Strain the mix. Pour the blended mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into a large bowl, gently pressing on solids with a rubber spatula to extract maximum liquid while leaving seeds behind.
  5. Adjust flavors. Taste the strained mix and add more lime juice for tartness or sweetener for sweetness as needed, stirring well to incorporate.
  6. Store properly. Transfer the finished mix to clean glass bottles or mason jars with tight-fitting lids. Refrigerate immediately and use within 5 days for best flavor.
  7. Serve chilled. For each serving, combine equal parts strawberry margarita mix and sparkling water over ice. Garnish with fresh lime wedges and strawberry slices.

Notes

  • Freshness Tip: For the brightest flavor and color, use the ripest strawberries you can find. If berries aren’t perfectly ripe, macerate them with 1 tablespoon sugar for 30 minutes before blending.
  • Texture Perfection: For an ultra-smooth mix, double-strain through cheesecloth after the initial straining.
  • Flavor Variations:
    • Add 8-10 fresh basil leaves to the blender for a strawberry-basil variation
    • Include a small slice of deseeded jalapeño for a spicy kick
    • Substitute pineapple juice for orange juice and add 1/4 cup mango for a tropical twist
  • Storage Options: Freeze in ice cube trays then transfer to freezer bags. These cubes can be thawed or blended frozen for up to 3 months.
